Hello & Welcome
I’m Jessica, a Victoria-based counsellor providing support to individual youth and adults as well as to parents and families. I acknowledge with gratitude and respect that I live and work within the unceded traditional territories of the Lkwungen poeple, also known as the Songhees and Esquimalt First Nations communities.
I understand that all people have a natural capacity to grow through hardships and challenges toward a life that is more fulfilled, content, and joyful. My work involves helping people uncover their deep-rooted strengths and intuitive knowing, which may have become hidden or complicated through various difficult, painful, or confusing experiences that we each encounter at some point throughout our lives. My work also includes giving meaningful attention to people’s life contexts, and understanding how particular life experiences may influence people’s ability to create change.
* I provide both in-person and virtual sessions. *
My Practice
You come to counselling with abilities and insights that have been growing with you for your whole life. These strengths are going to help you make the kinds of change you are seeking. My goal is to help you uncover what you already possess while we create new possibilities both for what you want next, as well as how to get there. I also work with you to cultivate the courage you might be seeking (that you’ve always had) so that you can take action toward the change you want. My skill is in helping you explore, understand, create, and act.

About Me
JESSICA LEFEBVRE MC, SEP, RCC
I have known since I was a teenager that I wanted to work in a profession where I could help people overcome obstacles. As a young person, I understood from firsthand experience the difference that caring support can make when you’re facing a difficult or painful situation. As an adult, I am always inspired by the incredible feats a person can achieve when they know that someone believes in them.
Along with my work, I love the outdoors, creating good food for my loved ones, and hanging out in my garden with my two cats.
EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION
I have worked in the counselling field for over 20 years. In 1999, I started working with teens and young adults in non-profit community-based organizations whose goals were to support young people coping with challenges like substance use, poverty, safe housing, family conflict, isolation, mental health challenges, and becoming teen parents. Since then, I have worked extensively with both youth and adults, both individually and with family members, across a range of concerns. Areas in which I have particular interest and expertise include: fears, worries and anxiety; sadness and depression; healing from trauma; body image; self-injury; self-esteem and identity development; substance use and misuse; sexualized violence; gender identity and sexuality; and life transitions.
I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (#11830) with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors. I hold a Masters in Counselling degree as well as two undergraduate degrees (Child and Youth Care, and a joint major in Women’s Studies & International Development). I am also certified as a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP). As well, I participate in additional trainings regularly to maintain my professional development. Along with my private practice, I work in community mental health and I have also taught as a sessional instructor in the School of Child and Youth Care at the University of Victoria.
